I'm sure this legendary franchise will eventually leak into multiple threads, but let me start things off:
I've been playing the DOOM + DOOM II remaster on Steam, mostly out of convenience--I don't know how well it controls with the mouse, but it's great for casual controller play (especially because DOOM doesn't have vertical aiming, heh). It also comes with all of the official expansions and John Romero's SIGIL episodes, so I can really sink my teeth into this stuff without even getting into the millions and millions of fanmade maps.
Recently I beat the infamous Plutonia Experiment, and it is in parts as ball-busting as everyone says, and just a good nice challenge in others. No Rest for the Living kicks ass too, although I don't recommend trying to find the BFG secrets in two of the later maps unless you want to spend 30 minutes running around trying to figure out what you're supposed to do.
I started SIGIL and I'm actually not really enjoying it that much... part of it is that it's hard to go back to the Doom 1 roster of weapons and monsters, but I'm also just kind of annoyed with the overdesigned layouts and the abundance of hitscanners taking potshots at you around every corner. Maybe I'll warm up to it as it goes on, who knows?
