Rush fucking rules. No holds barred, full-stop, these guys are some of the greatest rock musicians to ever walk the earth. I read an article somewhere once that said lesser musicians would injure themselves if they tried to do a third of what the guys in Rush did. Absolutely unabashed nerds and also dedicated artists, here's one of their most iconic songs which is 12 fucking minutes long and inspired by an unfinished poem from the 18th century.

And here's their song about being actual rockstars, which instead of a big, boastful show-off is a rumination on fame and being in the, well, limelight.

Someone on reddit once said something along the lines of "There are many Rush fans, and they are not casual fans." In my experience, as a Rush fan, this absolutely tends to be the case. Though even among Rush fans I am probably fonder of the Hold Your Fire album than most.

I'm so sad that I never went and saw Rush live when I had the opportunity to. Had plenty of chances and kept saying "I'll just go next year"..... and then next year never came..... As a drummer, Neil Peart was my hero growing up.
Had a Critical Thinking teacher in college who was real into these guys. Seems like the kinda band where all the fans are super devoted. That's how you know it's good. :P

Did you know that the opening riff of YYZ is actually morse code for YYZ?....... Also, YYZ is the call sign for Toronto airport. The members of Rush were originally from Toronto.

Yes! I think the story goes that they were looking to do something like La Villa Strangiato but shorter, and ended up inspired hearing the morse code for their plane as they landed in Toronto one day.

I'm from Central Ontario Canada, hour north of Toronto. Rush was always frequently played on all of the local radio stations and I had a friend who was a major fan like Noth. I now wonder Who's the bigger Rush fan: Noth or my old buddy Mitchell?

My favorite Rush song is Xanadu btw. Xanadu and Limelight
