This movie is amazing. It's a horror mystery told out-of-sequence and from points-of-view from multiple characters, featuring both legit scares and black comedy.

One night, in a small town, several children spring out of bed and run away from home. No one can figure out why. They have only one connection between them: they all attend the same class at school. One boy from their class, Alex, remained home that night. Authorities question him, asking if it was some kind of plan, but he has no answers. Their teacher, Justine, becomes the primary suspect and a pariah in town. One month later, she begins her own investigation into what happened.

What follows is a series of sequences, each from a different character, over the following few days (with occasional flashbacks). Many scenes repeat, from different perspectives and with new context. You'll find yourself asking, "the hell was that!?" in one scene, only for things to come back to that moment later to give you an "ah-ha!" I imagine this is a movie that will reward repeat viewings.

Overall, it feels like a mix of David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino.

Anyway, general discussion about this flick

Oh yeah, reviewed this one in my general movie review thread a while back and loved it. Was terrified it was going to get the same kind of hype backlash as Longlegs, and am immensely relieved that I was wrong and people seem to overwhelmingly enjoy it. Still probably doesn't quite beat out Sinners for my movie of the year, but it and Superman are the only ones that have come close.
